It is possible to organize trips to the craters of the volcano and for obvious safety reason you must have to contact and engage authorized guides, available for anyone that would like to go up.

Statistics show that the accidents that have occurred on Stromboli over the last 50 years have all involved “do-it-yourself” tourists, where as no serious accidents have ever happened involving tourists with authorized guides.

For a safe climb up the volcano you need comfortable clothing, long light trousers or shorts and long socks. Don’t  forget to carry in your rucksack a spare shirt, pullover or light anorak, to use when you stop to rest. Always wear walking boots. Take two torches with you, preferably a pocket one and traditional one, with spare alkaline batteries. Other essentials are a bottle of water, a lemon, some fruit, disinfectant, cotton wool, a bandage, plasters, an ointment for burns, a dust mask and finally a helmet, supplied by the guide and to be used when necessary.

Is  still possible watch the explosive phenomena of Stromboli with confidence from an altitude of 273mt above sea level from  the mule track along the Sciara del Fuoco. At this depth, is not necessary to be accompanied by guides.
